One time, I read this story.
One student put her painting out in the hallway and asked everyone to circle anywhere on the painting that they found faults. Two weeks later, she came back to see her painting full of circles. She then changed the question to fix all the points that had been criticized. The result after two weeks? Only one circle amid dozen had a suggestion on how to fix it.
--> The moral of the story? Pleasing everyone, if you don't know, is impossible. People love to criticize. Most of them don't really care how hard you work at it. And a few of them will actually sincerely suggest how to fix all the imperfections.
--> Therefore, for all the new authors out there, don't let a rock stop you from walking on your path. Keep walking.
Gille: *raises eyebrows*
Betty: What? Do you know how time consuming it is? And this is not even my job! I never claim to be an author, you know! I say "voice-person". Criticize the story, not all the little imperfections!
David: I thought you said to pay those little anoying things no mind?
Betty: I want you all to be perceived as stories, not a english essay to be criticize.
Betty: Seriously, I don't recall joining any critique group. Can you imagine everyone belittles everything you do? It's like bullying in high school! Not constructive because there's no suggestion to make it better!
Brigitte: Chill. Pay them no mind. Why do you care? It's not your profession.
Marguerite: That's right. It's okay. I think you're perfect.
Richard: That's why we came to you! :P
Natalie: *hugs* Yes, because we love you.
Alex: You have character. I'm not sure about not giving a damn to critiique is a good idea though.
Betty: I love constructive critique, not belittled critique!
Vincent: It happens. At least, we still hear you talking. I can talk and no one can hear me.
Layla: *shakes head at Vincent* It's a hobby, Betty. You have your own personal hectic life. We're not here to be famous. We're here because we like you.
Betty: *shoves an spoonful of ice-cream into mouth* It's really hard. I spend so much time into trying to make everything perfect. Most people don't even leave a feedbacks. Some that do criticize things that has nothing to do with storyline. I'm just trying to make it good for you guys. You give me so much and I'm trying to...
Gille: *shushes Betty* And it's perfect for us. We didn't choose an English teacher, or an editor, or a professional writer. We chose you, with your own mind and character and yes, your own crazy hectic schedule.
Vincent: Because we like your energy :P
Betty: *laughs with everyone else*
Gille: Because you're you and we're us. Simple as that.
Lydia: *whispers in Betty's ear* Fate!
